Let's resolve - "Never Again!"

We frown upon human trafficking today. It is sad that it was practiced and people were displayed and traded like commodities.

On Saturday April 21st, we visited Elmina Castle and Cape Coast Castle. We had a guided tour through the dungeons where the people were kept as slaves and "exported" like commodities.Check out wikipedia site on Elmina Castle

Isolation cell for rebellious male slaves - where they were left to die

Dungeon for male slaves - they had to remain in this room - hundreds of them together - for up to 3 months awaiting ships to take them out of Africa

You can imagine the scene in the ships where these folks were packed like sardines and taken to the 'new world'. About a third of the African slaves were taken to US, another third to Brazil and the remaining to the islands of the Caribbean.

This evil trade and continued for centuries and we also found a plaque which resolved to never let this happen again.

I realized that we do not  always recognize and celebrate what we've got - like freedom... It is only when you see how deprived others were do we realize the value of what we've got...
